'99 S70 T5, 90,000 Miles. During the past week, when the radio is turned on right after the engine is started, there is a high-pitched RF interference-type noise overlaid on what I'm hearing from the radio. Noise quits after 20-30 seconds, and does not show up when engine is later started while still warm. Ambient temperatures ranging from 12-35F.
Anybody have a clue as to what temperature-related gizmo is the likely culprit, and how close I might be to that gizmo failing and leaving me a chapped pedestrian? Any idea whether pulling codes while cold, then later while hot, would help with differential diagnosis?

    If it is still doing the noise, my bet is on the air pump which is only on while the engine is cold started. Have you drilled drain holes in the air pump casing yet?

    Next time when you do a cold start, raise the hood first and check for a noisy pump under the battery area.

      Thanks, Klaus! I'll add the drilling to my list of post-thaw do-its.
      Meantime, I'm hoping this weekend to spend some quality time in the driveway testing all the possible combinations of circumstances to see if I can narrow it down further, just in case it's a combination involving electronic glitches as well.
