Steering column graon noise V70-XC70

My wifes '02 V70 has a groan or rub kind of noise when turning the steering wheel. Definately inside the car. Searched Brickboard site for info, nothing? Hope someone else has had similar experience.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Same in my 99 V70, only noticeable in the cold, just for a little while.

As always thanks for the lead Klaus.
Hard to get to sounds like a summer job.

I thought that was fixed on the newer cars. The noise you describe is from a bushing on the lower steering column where it goes through the firewall. Not a big deal, just a pain in the neck to fix because of the location.

Klaus, How is the bushing accessed?? from the engine or cabin side??
Can it be sprayed with a lubricant, along the steering shaft so it weeps into the bushing??? Do you know what the bushing material is??? Thx. art

Access is from the cabin side. My 1998 did the same when cold and once the temps went up I forgot about it until the following winter... Never did fix the dumb think.

Dealer has an upgrade bushing. It is plastic.
