Aftermarket Stereo Installation 95 850T 850

I bought a Sony head unit along with the Metra harness( Metra 70-9220 Radio Wiring Harness)and the Metra faceplate/pocket(Metra 88-00-9000 Single DIN Pocket Radio Installation Kit) from Amazon. Total was $105 delivered.
The installation took all of about 40 minutes and went smoothly and easily.
I had already replaced the speakers in the rear deck and the front doors.
Reglued the magnets on the rear doors. Sounds great. I was truly surprised at how easy the Metra wiring harness made the job. I used simple crimp butt connectors from Radio Shack. So any of you out there that are thinking about this but have some apprhensions to DIY it. Go for it. Easier then changing spark plugs.

I was looking at getting a factory CD/AM/FM/Cassette unit to replace my cassette only original, but I'll take a look at this one. Thanks for the post.

I installed a CD receiver head unit. You can find CD/Cassette head units. Crutchfield stocks them routinely but they can be a bit pricier. Although sometimes their(Crutchfield's) installation kit deals are quite good. They have excellent customer service and tech. support too. I went with a Sony for price and features for $$.

What about the antenna? My new 95 850 Wagon has antenna built in to the rear side windows. So far I'm not impressed. Are your sedans this way, or do you have a regular antenna? Wonder if I should just install a regular antenna kit from auto zone or something. Changing the stereo soon too. I gotta have an ipod adapter for my long drives, I'm hooked on that thing.

I find the antenna setup in my wagon is more than acceptable - I actually feel like I get great reception. Much better than my '86 760 sedan did.
The dual antenna setup is really slick.

You mean the built in antennas on the windows? Maybe I need to give them a chance. Just got the car, haven't played with it much..

Those are the ones I mean. I had reservation at first, remembering the early 80's GM products that had the wire-in-the-windshield antennas that /SUCKED/! The dual antennas in the rear windows of my V70 wagon have performed much better than I expected and indeed much better than any antenna in any car I've ever driven before (not that many, to be fair).
