95 850 Whine 850

Hey guys my resevoir bottle sprung a leak and coolant ran all down the side of the engine where the belts are located...I now have a whine coming from one of them. Anyone have a clue which piece to check first? Maybe just by chance it happened after the leak but it appears the leak has done something to cause this...Thanks so much! BTW I just installed a new bottle so THATS taken care of...

Antifreeze will remove the grease, you might just want to grease it up a little. The clutch does need a puller to get off, and it sounds like it is just the clutch that is the problem.
The plus side of this, you probably wnated to move the shims anyway to get better clutch gap.

Check the 700/900 FAQs for clutch removal. Do not remove the compressor! First, it is too hard. Second, the R134a will excape and then it will be off to an AC shop to vacuum the system and replace the drier bottle.

Thanks for the info! I will go by Oreillys or auto zone and see if they have a tool I can borrow to do the pull....I was reading that there is a belt available, correct length, to bypass the AC for the time being if I have to while I locate the tool. The clutch is 24 bucks from autozone which will be here Thursday. Thanks again Klaus!

AFter removing the belt and spinning the wheels of luck I found the AC was the culprit...and its on the bottom of course :) Can I just replace the bearing or will the entire unit need to replaced? Any special puller needed?

    Thanks!
