Airbox differences? 850 1994

Hello,

My '94 850 n/a had a starting problem last weeek. I got it restarted.

I'm going to rebuild my airbox. I have a couple of questions.

- I've got a donor airbox from a '95 glt. It has the AMM and holder that can be removed from the airbox. My '94 has the AMM and AB one piece. Can I use either one of these setups.

- The airbox bracket was missing on my car. I also got one for the donor.

There was a hose snakeing thru the bracket. What is this hose?

- currently I have the Heated air side of my airbox closed off. It's capped and tape over the end..

Am I better off taking out the thermastat and close off the heated side flap altogether?

Thanks, TL

Go ahead and use the 1995 air box, the AMM plug should still be the same.

Leave the heated air plugged, as you have it. No need to remove the thermostat.

I am clueless as to the hose going through the bracket, unless it is the one for the air pump.

Thanks Klaus,

I do believe the hose is from the air pump. It has a connector in the middle where it can be separated. So It's okay just to disconnect for this?

I believe you are right about the unmetered air fouling my plugs.

Hopefully this will stop the whistling and misfire..

Thanks, TL

That's not a connector, it is a one-way valve and must not be disconnected.
