If you leave the tailgate open, will the courtesy light turn off automatically or will it stay on until the battery is drained?

On the 'older' cars, the tailgate light had a 3 position switch. If there is no switch, make sure your battery is kept at a full charge :) or close the tailgate before you go to bed.

On my XC90 the light will turn out automatically. I found out that my XC70 will not when the XC70 would not crank after leaving the tailgate open for a long time. It has no 3 way switch.
