wastegate actuator 150/40 - right one? 850 96T5

the actuator on my UK 225hp 850T5 estate is rated 150/40 and my bsr chip doesnt seem to work well with this.

have i got the right actuator, or should i have a weaker one as standard?

Re: wastegate actuator 150/40 - right one? 850 96T5

Hi Duncan,

150/40 is the standard wastegate actuator on 850T5. However, the actuator is not strong enough to hold more than 15psi of boost. When I upgraded the turbo and raised the boost to 17psi on my 850T5, I changed the actuator to the 300/70 and I had no problem with holding boost. The 300/70 is the wastegate from '99 Euro V70R AWD. I don't have the part no. but I might be able to dig it up. Hope this helps.

Re: wastegate actuator 150/40 - right one? 850 96T5

Thanks for the reply.

bsr claim their chip will give 1.2bar boost with the standard actuator.

on my car, the boost wont hold up steady with this chip and actuator, so i replaced it with a 15/16psi actuator and a small bleed valve to precisely control the boost pressure.

seems to work well!
