Question re. donus spare wheel 850 1995

I have a spare wheel that has separated tire tread. Anyone know if

the tire can be replaced? Tried several tire places but was told I'd need to get a new complete wheel. Seems absurd that one cannot replace a tire on these small wheels.

Re: Question re. donus spare wheel 850 1995

Buying a replacement at a salvage yard is the way to go.

If a spare from a 740 will fit, I'll give you one of the two I have in storage. (I doubt that one will because the offset is different.)

Answer re: stupid donut spare tire 850 1995

How about from a Volvo junkyard? There are about a zillion 850SVC70s around, there can't be much demand for those spares since they're less than useless. Even better, buy a full size matching wheel and spare (used), it'll fit, at least up to 205/55x16. For some bizarre reason a full size spare on a matching wheel is/was optional for EUROPEAN DELIVERY US 850SVC70s, but not for US delivery US cars.

Are you sure the 205/55/16 will fit? As I recall, someone went out and got this size on a volvo steel wheel, and it didn't fit. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the largest size you can fit in there is a 205/50/16.

Also, if you have rear seats, nothing but the space saver will fit (just for the guy that asked).
