My new 2002 has rusty lug nuts. Do I have to buy new lug nuts or is there another solution?

    I have the same problem; the coating came off all the lug nuts. You can buy the new and improved lug nuts from the dealer. Maybe try the net for better prices.

    I just wet the threads with oil before putting them back on. Of course, the salt and water will eventually wipe it off, but then I also rotate the tires with every oil change.

    A good wire brush (I recommend a drill adaptor type), then a light coat with chassis grease. I always keep mine with a light coat of grease on to begin with to prevent the corrosion you are experiencing.

      I always put a tiny bit of grease on mine as well. Careful with the torque, as they'll spin more easily now.
