S70 T5, Clicking noise on acceleration? S70

For some time I have had a distinct tapping or clicking noise when I start to accelerate. When it reaches a certain point (have to look at tach!) it stops. it sounds a bit like preignition ping, but I don't beleve it is. it is more mechanical, or metal sounding. I think it is coming from lower down in the left rear side of the engine compartment. Will some times do it in reverse too.

Left front axle was replaced about a year ago, but I think the noise has been around longer than that. ( Almost sounds like there is a guy down there with a tiny ball peen hammer)

Any thoughts?

Woody

replace the tiny ball peen hammer with a tiny rubber mallet? :)

I don't have much in the way of advice for you - sounds like a transmission/torque converter/differential issue but it's hard to tell anything from your description alone.

It would be worthwhile to flush your trans fluid as a preventative measure just in case, no?
