Replacing my Hella horn :( S40 1997

Dear all,

The Hella horn of my Volvo S40 had broken (I noticed by testing for continuity) and therefor I have visited the car-shop to get a replacement Horn. The shop told me I could use a universal horn (also Hella). The only problem was that the standard Volvo connector didn't fit on the universal model (the connectors were wider apart), so I have removed the connector and placed a new connector on each wire which I have connected to the universal horn.

Unfortunately, I have probably underestimated the complexity of replacing a Horn because it still doesn't make any sound.

Can anyone help me with this problem ?

Thank you so much !

Regards,

Erik

    Eric:
I know this is a late response, but if you didn't figure out the problem in the last 3 weeks, here's a possible solution.
You mentioned checking the continuity of the old horn.
Did you check for voltage in the wires going to the horn?
If there's no voltage, it could be a bad switch, relay or fuse.
Are there 2 horns on the car (high & low)? If so, are they run in series or parallel? If in series, the other horn may be causing the problem.
    Good luck and Happy Holidays!
    -Mark
