Ticking noise V70-XC70 2004

When I started to try to change my timing belt I only got far enough in to see the old belt (took out plugs and removed timing belt covers), and then buttoned everything back up. Now the engine is making a loud ticking noise from the timing belt area. What could this be?

You probably need to remove the cover and put it back on properly. There are tabs at the bottom of the cover so it doesn't get too close to the crank pulley.
