Hi, Irecently attempted to clean the mas on my s70t (engine B5254T)because the electronic failure light came on and broke an element. With the damaged sensor the motor fired but wouldnt start. After some hassle I sourced a replacement which arrived non-bosch and has different filament design. Now the motor wont fire with either mas and has no spark. There is 11.97v at the coil/distrutor. I have checked all key/security combinations which appear normal. How can I further check the problem and or tast the coil. I am a long way from service asst (especially with non mobile car and have no access to obd11 which I probably wouldny know how to read. Any help would be appreciated, Broe

Your car should idle just find with the MAF unplugged, just don't plug/unplug it with the engine running.

A no spark could be the cam position sensor.

Where do I find Robs picture showing the cam position sensor. I am new to this (obviously)

Look at the engine compartment from the driver's side fender. Note the distributer cap with the 5 plug wires. Move to the rear about 6 inches, and the round thing (rear cam) has the CPS attached to it. If you replace it, the wire for the CPS must not be routed against any of the spark plug wires.

I think it's about halfway down the page there. On the right side of the engine block that says 'Volvo 20 valve' on top of it.

Going on, there is 12v to bothe sides of the coil and the lead to distributor with key in start position but no spark from the lead when motor is cranked.

Sounds like a reasonable assumption to me...with no signal from the crankshaft position sensor, the car won't know which cylinder's where and therefore won't fire the plugs.
