My trusty S80 with 192K just threw the P0442 code and based on what I've read so far it sounds like a J hose near the charcoal cannister may be the culprit. Anyone know where that is located and how to get access to it? THanks!

    My curiosity got the best of me, so I did some web surfing.....

    Check out this page. They discuss the problem with the cannister hose, describe it's location (above the rear subframe?) and one guy even attached a pdf diagram.

    Is that code related to the evap control system? If so, you might check out the gas cap condition before moving to the more difficult stuff.

      I checked the fuel cap and couldn't tell if it was the issue. However, since I have reset the Check Engine Light, I have not had time to inspect behind/under the wheel well to see if any hoses are cracked. That was more than 150 miles ago and the light has not re-occurred.
