power door lock parts? replacement S70 1998

Rear left power door lock stopped working. Goes down not up. Opened up door and found that a red tab on the locking mechanism had broken off.

Went to dealer said I must buy entire lock for $135. Is there an alternative or places where this is cheaper?

    Ahhhh ... the "Red Evil Plastic Lever". This happens so frequently that the problem even has a name.

    If you want to tackle the repair of the locking medchanism rather than replacing it, you can view the entire detailed repair procedure here:

    If you choose to replace the locking mechanism, the access procedures are the same. Many of us have done this one. Removing the lock from the door can be a bit frustrating and takes a bit of finesse, but you can do it.

    Got mine at local pick-a-part for $25.00. Pulling the old one and installing the new one is the fun part. The pick-a-part yard is free practice. Good Luck
