engine mount(s) problem? V70-XC70 1999

Hi, all.

I noticed there's a noticeable shake (feel like gear shift) when the rev of my v70 (parked, not in gear) came down to about 1200 rpm. There's nothing like that found with my 95 850. is the shake related to damaged engine mount(s)? If yes, how can I check for mount damage?

Thank you,

    engine mount(s) problem? V70-XC70 1999

Have you checked the upper mount? This is a round rubber fitting in an aluminum housing with an arm attached to the firewall. Many people have reported failures of the bushing. Look carefully and you may see cracks. Solutions: 1. Buy a new part from Volvo. 2. Buy the replacement kit from IPD.

Yes V7driver, but careful on the poly mount V70-XC70 1999

Hello, My upper rubber mount was torn and I ordered the blue poly mount from IPD. It made my steering wheel shake so violently a prospective buyer got out of the car. A Volvo indie in Caldwell, NJ told me most of his customers with the hard poly mount restored the replacement rubber "web" (original part) from Volvo. Mine was $17 from a dealer. Kira

The regular volvo mount is very hard to install.

I used a two-piece rubber mount from FCP and really like it.

BTW the other engine mounts are probably wearing, which is why there is so much vibration to transfer in the first place. New engine mounts all around are probably in order to completely rectify the problem.

Thanks you all for your inputs. my car has the blue IPD mount installed. Seems there is no ill effect; but I will pay attention to look at it more carefully. Do you know how to check other mounts for wearing?

          Thanks,

Yes V7driver, but replace all the mounts V70-XC70 1999

This is a 14-year-old car. Why check? Just have them replaced if you have no documents that show they were replaced within the last few years.

              Thanks again.

Have passed the age to go ahead without looking. Just kidding. :-)

We are talking about my 99 v70 so it is 10-yr old. the strange part is my 95 850 still has the original upper engine mount (unbroken) though I bought a replacement from IPD a couple of years ago (at time to replace the one on the V70).

              Have a good one.
