Drivers side back mirror malfunction V70-XC70 1998

Hello !

I have a problem with this mirror and I just can`t find the solution. It looks as if the motor inside the mirror works just fine, the only problem is that the mirror is moving very slowly and only to the left and right (not up and down). Sometimes it even doesn˙t move at all...

I don`t know how to open the mirror, how to look inside and see what is the problem ...

And when I drive faster (100-120 mph), the mirror itself gets out of its position (the wind does it) and then I must again adjust it to my favourite position...

Thank you for any advice !!

Re: Drivers side back mirror malfunction V70-XC70 1998

Mine had this exact problem and I was able to fix it. I was scared about breaking the mirror, but nothing bad happened. Here's the fix:

First move the mirror all the way to the left or right. Insert a small screwdriver behind the mirror and pry off the rubber holders that grip the nipples on the back of the mirror. By carefully working them one by one, the mirror will come off. Don't drop it. With the mirror off you will see how to re-connect the motor to the bracket so that it moves in all directions. Then simply press the mirror back in place.

Good luck!
