Ambient Temperature sensor/indicator is off(higher) by 2-3 degrees V70-XC70 2001

Gents,

The Ambient Temperature indicator which is integrated into the odometer indicator shows the ambient temperature 2-3 degrees higher. I check with other accurate thermometers.
This is excessive compared with my other car - 850 1996.

Do you know where is the temperature sensor located and is it possible to calibrate some how?

Thanks a lot, SA

I'm sure mine is off by a few too. On hot humid days, mine shows 100 sometimes when it's only really 85, or 90. Plus, mine is in the front bumper, so it must sense some engine heat too. It doesn't take wind, humidity, etc into account. So it might feel colder outside with wind blowing.. it actually isn't. Not really worth a few hundred.

The temp sensor gets moved, year to year. My 1995 was in the dash intake, my 1998 was in the front bumper.

No, they cannot be calibrated. Welcome to the club. 2F or 3F is no big deal, where as 2C or 3C would be a problem.

Klaus - thanks a lot for your replay. Prompt and accurate as usual.
The car is in Australia. The temp is in Celsius.
I guess I have to live with this annoyance.
Hope the offset of 2-3 C stays constant.

Regards SA

You might try calling your Volvo parts department, not service, and ask them where it is and what they charge for a new one. I have a good rapport with my parts guys and they don't mind looking things up.

Hello, My '99 and '02 are off to the same degree. No pun intended. Kira
