Front Breaks 850

I've got this weird problem with the front breaks. They start to click, very low click, and then are hard to apply. the pads are in pretty good condition. I'm wondering how to go about trouble shooting this thanks for your help....

Front Brakes and pedals 850

That 'click' noise could be the pad shifting position when pressure is applied. I wonder if the spring clip is not holding the pad in position or the 3 prong clip on the inner pad is broken.

ABS won't make a 'click' noise and will cause the brake pedal to vibrate as the pressure is increased. The ABS will only start up when the wheels are slipping and locked. Of course, if only one wheel is locking up then the steering will be compromised.

They are spelled 'brakes'.

When were your pads last replaced, miles ago? OEM or other brand. DIY or mechanic? Last brake fluid flush was when?

When you first start the car with your foot firmly on the brake, does the pedal sink a little when the engine starts to run? If not, the vacuum check valve may be a problem.

Yes Brakes, sorry. Pads aren't to bad. I could change them. yes the brake peddle sinks a little on start up. fluid is clean. Maybe a possible anti-lock sensor problem??? thanks for the help...

I don't know about your problem but be careful not to mistake 'clean' looking fluid for good fluid.

Brake fluid is supposed to be flushed/changed every other year under good conditions, and EVERY year in humid climates or lots of in-town/stop-and-go driving or when you're doing brake work (replacing lines/calipers/etc). It sucks moisture out of the air and degrades, and the moisture in it will cause your brake components to rust, like inside your calipers and lines.

It's probably worth a flush just for peace of mind.
