warranty S70 1998

Hi,

I bought a certified used 98 volvo S70 last March which came with the 2 year 25,000 mile warranty. So far the car

has been great. The "Whoa" post go me thinking about one thing. The CD player ate my CD (literally) and had to be replaced. The dealer said this was not covered under warranty. So I forked over the $200 assuming that audio equipment was not covered.

Let me get this straight...you have a warranty, but no idea what it covers? If you lost the paperwork, get it replaced, read it, understand it, and it will be much cheaper than just accepting the fact that "it must not be covered".

Re: warranty S70 1998

Audio eqipment is covered. When my 98 S70 T5 would not eject

the CD the dealer swapped it with a new one. Took about

5 minutes. This was before the problem was well known.

Now they can fix em or exchange for one that has been

fixed. Details of the problem and fix at:

Re: warranty S70 1998

When my leased 1998 S70 would not eject a CD (this happened twice), and was still in Warrantee, my Dealer charged me $15 to "reset the radio". At least that is what they wrote on the service order. I considered this a bargain compared to usual Volvo maintenance costs, so was only mildly annoyed.

I wrote a letter to VCNA about the short bulb life because I received a $70 citation for a inoperable headlight when the bulb was only 4 months old, and I had made an appointment to have it replaced. Now that's annoying! I always carry spares now, and have learned to change a headlight in the dark.

Re: warranty S70 1998

Wow! Another sign that there is a big difference in

dealers. Whan my CD would not eject I called "my"

service manager (you are assigned one when you buy

the car) and he said I could make an appointment or

come by wed or thursday afternoon (apparently a slow

time for him). A tech swapped the radio while I waited.

I got out of the car since I know they don't really

like to be watched but my salesman jumped in and started

quizing the tech about how common this problem was.

After that they asked if any other problems and I mentioned

the turbo was a bit noisy. Took the tech for a test ride

with me and he said there was no problem. Salesman then

wanted to wash the car (I declined, I only wash it by hand).

At that point I needed to leave so they offered to mail me

the paper work (which they did) so I could get on my way.

AutoNation has since purchased the dealership and I have

not been back in a while. Hope the service is still as good.
