service light 850 1997

Anyone know how to turn off the service light on a 1997 850 other than taking it to a dealer. Thanks

Can't be done. I use it as a "Go light". When the light turns off, the engine is usually hot enough to accomodate a full throttle run.

I don't believe it can be done on a '97 or '98 short of buying a $100 service light reset tool.

      Hello Folks,

There are a few threads on Matthews Volvo site, and the uk volvo club.
Something about removing the hot cable from the battery for ten minuets to reset the ecu memory and allow it to readjust.

I've a 96 na and the reset tool at autozone done free; worked for less than a half hour and the service light came back on as well as the MIL which was flashing... for the first time ever!

Otherwise check ebay for service reset tool $80-$100.

      best of luck!
