S 60 Alarm Problems S60

Another problem with this car was the battery going flat. During the ETM repair and code reading Volvo ID'ed some codes for this problem and estimated $360 or so to fix it.

The alarm system was causing the battery going flat in 3-4 days. As soon as the car was shut off, the alarm would start drawing current and slowly drain the car battery.

Volvo removed the fuse for now.

The error codes for this are UEM 0004 and 0005.

Any ideas on this are appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

The alarm is a known problem. Seems that the drycell battery for the alarm can and does go bad, leaking all over the alarm circuitry and causing problems.

The alarm is in the right fender, forward of the wheel. For exact location, http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/index.php

Klaus

Are you talking about the siren replacement? That looks easy enough, does Volvo need to update software?

Thanks
Dan

After reading the post on Matthews Volvo I answered my questions. That sure was a brilliant design!
Thanks
