Trick to prevent future bolt rusting / freezing? 1993

Can you coat or spray anything onto bolts to prevent them from freezing or rusting up in the future? Loc-tite? light oil?

I just spent an hour cutting off a nut that was rusted onto the top of the thermostat housing bolts.

Thanks!

Since corrosion IS a problem you want to avoid anything that will aggravate the problem.
That means anything that is electropositive to aluminum alloys, which would invite galvanic
corrosion of the aluminum. Since aluminum corrosion products occupy about 30 times the volume
of the aluminum that was corroded away, corrosion of aluminum threads is a real problem!
(Since aluminum is an active metal, nearly ALL common metals are electropositive to it.
So is graphite and Moly disulfide.)
A couple things that might help would include plumber's teflon tape and heavy grease.

Trick to prevent future bolt rusting / freezing? Anti-seize 1993

There are a number of companies, like Permatex, who make anti-seize compounds. Usually they are a silver or copper paste. Great chemicals. Another option is use stainless steel bolts. I find they seldom seize up.

IIRC anti-seize changes the torque specification 1993

I remember reading somewhere that coating the bolts with anti-seize compound means that the torque actually obtained is higher than the setting on the torque wrench.

Don't know if it makes any difference in this case though.

Perhaps the company doesn't like to spend extra money for a very thin aluminum washer? Those Torx bolts have been replaced with 10mm bolts at the dealer, much easier to break loose. Still, a drop of oil on the threads won't hurt.
