You really must be "Stoned." 500hp?! Not in the I5 used in the 850/_70, without MONDO $$$, that would make the engine SO vastly different from the original equipment, that it wouldn't even be considered the same engine.
It isn't difficult to get enough fuel and air into the engine. A bigger turbo, better intercooler, plumbing, exhaust, fuel injectors, etc. Hell you could even get the proper ignition and electronics in no problem. BUT, there is NO way that you could get the block and heads to withstand that kind of power. The connecting rods are known to bend at shortly over 300hp and ft. lbs of torque. The valves would melt at those pressures and temperatures. The head would crack away from the block. The bottom end would be shot right through the oil pan.
Honestly, I can see 350, maybe even 400hp being made from a rebuilt Volvo I5 block, better turbo, custom ECU, but you'd never get close to 500. Want an easy 500hp? Go buy a used Z28 or Mustang GT, and for a quarter the price to get a Volvo I5 to make 400, you'd get an easy 400. Yes, I know they are cars of different breeds, and that is exactly my point. Don't expect a 2.3L engine car to make 500hp without more money than it would take to get a much faster, better handling, better braking car.
This is exactly why I have a serious problem with ea. They bull shit like crazy, and straight out lie to those that don't know better, who in turn pass the lies around like a plague, so even more people pass on the bull shit.
