What does everyone think of eastern aerospace and their products?

    Re: eastern aerospace 850 1995

While I’m certainly not loyal customer, nor am I a believer in their Stage I - IV packages, and their claims of super high HP which are probably not the best use of your disposable income, they do offer some good products at reasonable prices. I did picked up a strut tower brace (~$195) from them, which is the same as the one that everyone, including IPD and Volvo, picture with the Ohlins Road Holding Kit. Hey if that bar is good enough for the car that they installed a $2000 suspension upgrade on, its good enough for my basically stock R. It also appears to be identical to the one offered through the Volvo parts department, and we all know how that experience can be sometimes. I think the brace is much better then the slightly more expensive IPD piece with looks like it was fabricated from the parts bin at Home Depot.

As for the K&N filter I think the filter itself is a good piece, this is something that several mechanic friends of mine use, as well as others on this board. Often people include K&N on their signature lines, when listing their mods. As of this afternoon, EA states the K&N filter is good for an “Est. Gain for Turbo Charged = 10HP”. While this claim may be high, we’ll never really know unless someone out there dynos their car with a stock filter and then with the K&N filter. However EA’s numbers are well within the “up to 15 HP” that is listed right on K&N’s website. Also K&N is not one of those fly by night companies, like some of those infomercial products. For what it’s worth the filter is ~$3.00 cheaper then the non-sale price from IPD.

I think the best way to end this is to quote P. Dwyer’s post from this morning; “As always, take it with a grain of salt, it's provided for informational purposes by a person selling a product: read it critically.”

...I Have Used Them for Various Parts...NO Problem...Yes, Some HP Claims Are Out of Line But It Does Have More Non OEM Products Than Any Other Volvo Site...I Consider It a Valid Place to Check, Claims Aside...Prices Are Fine...Want to Talk HIGH PRICES?...Try IPD!!!...Just My Opinion, Folks...Be Easy on GoJira!!!...AL.

    Re: eastern aerospace 850 1995

If you haven't noticed from previous posts, Eastern Aerospace doesn't have a stellar reputation on this board. If you believe that their air filter thingamajig can net you 14 HP then you're the type that will believe anything. Just like "Stoned" who thinks you can wring 500 HP from the turbo inline 5 engine. He must have been REALLY stoned when he typed that BS up. BTW, check out some of EA's prices too, if you do a little bit of comparison shopping, you're sure to find much better deals on parts similar to theirs. And as for the parts you can't find elsewhere, some of them aren't offered simply because they do practically nothing but lighten your wallet. Seriously, consider shopping elsewhere for Volvo performace parts - you'll be glad you did.

Well...they still have a whole flock royal customers and believers on another site. Seems like most of the people here started to understand what's going on....but still have few people just can't snap out of it.

I can't wait to get that eastern aerospace sticker on my windshield. Do the math, with additional 169 hp increase, we are looking at 405hp on a 70 series T5~!! That's less than $23 a hp increase..can't beat that. ;)

Eastern Aerospace level 4 tuning service: $3,795.63

      Ram-Air Scoop for Volvos: $299.00

      Eastern Aerospace Windshield Decals: $14.95

Becoming an official member of Got-suckered-by-EA Club: Priceless.....

I found EA's site and was amazed on how many products and HP cliams they offered. I asked fellow BB's what they thought and as I suspected EA is blowing a lot of smoke. If all there products worked as they claimed we would see 850 T5's spanking most sports cars out on the road.

          Speaking of spanking... 850 1995

How do you like your new tires?? Last time you said you couldn't really try them out because it was raining or something. But I'm also curious to hear what you have to say about them on wet pavement. Thanks..

Re: Speaking of spanking... 850 1995

Check out my comments 11-23-01. These tires rule, we had to drive home in the rain 300mi on the 101 south. No problem, except for one area that had several inches accumilated. I had one set of auto cross tires years ago on a modified Scirrco that held the road this well but we're usless in the rain. My friend has the SO2's on a stock GS430 that provide unreal cornering, thats what prompted me to step up and SPANK the competition. Kai your warm and thoughtful feelings about EA are apreciated.

      Re: eastern aerospace 850 1995

You really must be "Stoned." 500hp?! Not in the I5 used in the 850/_70, without MONDO $$$, that would make the engine SO vastly different from the original equipment, that it wouldn't even be considered the same engine.

It isn't difficult to get enough fuel and air into the engine. A bigger turbo, better intercooler, plumbing, exhaust, fuel injectors, etc. Hell you could even get the proper ignition and electronics in no problem. BUT, there is NO way that you could get the block and heads to withstand that kind of power. The connecting rods are known to bend at shortly over 300hp and ft. lbs of torque. The valves would melt at those pressures and temperatures. The head would crack away from the block. The bottom end would be shot right through the oil pan.

Honestly, I can see 350, maybe even 400hp being made from a rebuilt Volvo I5 block, better turbo, custom ECU, but you'd never get close to 500. Want an easy 500hp? Go buy a used Z28 or Mustang GT, and for a quarter the price to get a Volvo I5 to make 400, you'd get an easy 400. Yes, I know they are cars of different breeds, and that is exactly my point. Don't expect a 2.3L engine car to make 500hp without more money than it would take to get a much faster, better handling, better braking car.

This is exactly why I have a serious problem with ea. They bull shit like crazy, and straight out lie to those that don't know better, who in turn pass the lies around like a plague, so even more people pass on the bull shit.

I used them for tune up parts because they were cheaper than IPD. No problems for me, I don't have any problems with them, I don't know about their horsepower claims though.

    Re: eastern aerospace 850 1995

The indy tech I bring my car to (Volvo and IPD certified) has recommended some of their services. I'd confirm with an independent Volvo tech in your own area who's had some experience with them.
