Axle barring cap 850

Hello All,

Just starting with a '94 850 wagon. I also have a '89 244gl.

I'm going in the am to a local p/p. I need the cap which goes over the
axle barring. Is there anything I should know.

I belive it's two 12mm bolts.

Also getting a roof rack for $20. Do I need all the molding from hood to tail?

Thanks, TL

I am stumped by the bearing cap you refer to. I had always assumed that the rear wheel caps were pry off, the fronts didn't have any covering over the axle nut.

As to the roof rail. If you are going to take off the rail from a donor car, by all means grab the metal rail inserts that dress up the drip rail. Otherwise you will have to cut up the one on your car. You might want to consider painting your new rail insert if the paint is peeling.

      Klaus,

I'm assuming the referenced bearing cap is the retainer for the right side CV axle. 12mm sounds about right. I'm interested to hear how it came to be that one was needed.

        Hello,

        Thanks for the help.

I just bought this car. should have gotten it checked before buying.

The Barring cap on the right drive shaft was missing.

I got the piece off the junked car yesterday. Got some real nice pieces..

Hood blanket; Air mass meter; floor mats.

Still to get. Roof rack, front plastic belly pan.

Does the fuse box unplug from the wiring harness? My #35 slot is burnt. I don't have any inside lights.

I had gotten my 240 key stuck half was into my ignition.. Finally got it out.
But now my key reminder chime won't quite. Where is the relay for this chime?

        Thanks, Todd

Todd - I suppose the fuse panel does unplug from the wiring harness...but not with a one shot multipin connector like you're hoping for, I suppose. Those fuses are hard wired into the whole harness and replacement sounds like a miserable job. I would cut the wires off the back of the burned fuse socket and install a universal fuse holder. The key chime? Just follow the chime, bud. But seriously, its up under the driver's side lower dash cover in the steering column/firewall vicinity.
