coolant question S70

Just noticed that the coolant in our much loved 98 S70 is a bit low -- but the reservoir says "DON'T MIX REGULAR COOLANT W/ VOLVO COOLANT" -- Is this true? Is there a place besides dealership to get the right stuff into the system b4 winter? THANX IN ADVANCE!

Before you flush, find out where the coolant is going. Pull the kick panel off the forward console and check the heater core. Take a close look at the sides of the radiator after you turn the engine off. Depending on miles, take off the Tbelt cover and check the water pump for weepage.

    coolant question S70

It's always best not to mix coolant. Offical volvo coolant only comes from the stealership. I have used other coolant from a european auto parts store. It is what Benz used. It is the same price as volvo, and has the same qualities but I feel better about buying as little as possible from the stealership! When was the last time you flushed your system? Maybe time for a flush and a thermostat. A little preventative medicine goes a long way.

    Good luck,
    Ken
