850 A/C Noise - Helpful short term solution 850 1995

Something that might be helpful for everyone that has a noisy A/C unit on their 850s. My 95-850 has a clear rumble coming from the A/C compressor. Everything works fine, cools fine but I know somewhere down the line the compressor is going to go pop and tear up the serpentine belt. Been rumbling for a number of months but since My daughter drives the car I did not want to hear about it.

I measured things up and after 2 attempts got a serpentine belt that lets me bypass the A/C compressor. Belt size is 49.5 inches or 1255 mm. Works great, no noise and since it is fall I have lots of time before I have to put in the used compressor I bought.

Just bypass the A/C unit and you are in business.

Tim

850 A/C Noise - Helpful short term solution 850 1995

I got my belt at Strauss. Look for a 6 rib belt that is either 49.5 inches or 1255 MM. I had to try a couple of belts before I got one to fit. Different manufacturers label their belts differently. The numbers look something like:

6PK1255 for the MM belt. 6 ribs, 1255 length

495PV6 for the inches belt. 49.5 inches and 6 ribs.

Hope this helps.

Tim
