Engine Mount Failure at 54K miles WTF??? S40-V40

Hello All,

I recently experienced an engine mount failure with my S40 T5 AWD.
No Mods were made to the engine, and there was NO collision.
The mounts simply failed causing damage to the timing belt and surrounding area, also the split bolts had to be drilled out and replaced.

My question is has anyone else experienced this?

The Dealer says that they could find no visible defect with the bolts. My response to that was "there is an obvious defect, they are now in multiple pieces."

I am currently dealing with Volvo to reimburse me for the repair cost that was incurred by a faulty part.

Any thoughts from the readers?

Thanks!

Keep up the good fight with Volvo North America. The factory needs to know about this. Also let the NTSB, the auto safety part, know about the failed bolts for the engine mount. Enough entries could force a safety recal.

    Thanks,

Replaced the same motor mount on my 2000 S40 at ~60K miles. I am convinced it came broken from the factory. Dealer had no explanations (but was happy to charge me for the work!).
