Vacuum elbows 850 1996

Before I replace the O2 sensor, I'm going to try the vacuum elbows. There are no visible leaks, but they are all pretty soft. I have found three of them, but I want to be sure I get them all. Anyone know how many there are and where?

Turbo or not, makes a big difference. For turbos, there is an elbow under #1 cylinder which you cannot see and is a real pain.

For non-turbos, you need to check the accordian air tube between the air cleaner and throttle body for hairline cracks.

Check all of the nipples on the vacuum tree for cracks.

Also check the intake manifold gaskets for leakage. Spraying carb cleaner on the gasket with the engine idling should change the idle if there is a leak.

SO, back to my original question - how many of these lttle buggers are there? My car is a non-turbo. I can easily find 2 near the vacuum tree and one under the spark plug shield between #1 and#2 cylinders. Are there more? I'm going to place an order (along with an order for the o2 sensor)and would like to avoid paying $7.50 for one or two elbows. Also, the three that I have found have one wide connection and one narrow connection. Are there any on this model that require the two wide connection set up?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

A while back there was a very long thread about elbows. Here is the info I had collected and posted. While I won't be answering your specific questions, I hope the info below might help you with your project:

[thread referred the the vac elbow passenger side, almost under the manifold]

I thought they did, But seeing the FCP site below -It's because of the manual transmission.
I wasn't saying that that's your trouble for sure -it just pops off sometimes. And it had popped off on mine.

my '97 NA has it and it was too hard to get to, so the indy did the repair
The hoses and elbows of the PCV, on both sides separate very easily on my car, and have been a little bit trouble.

Here are the different set ups

There are plenty of elbows. the fun one is to the left side of the intake manifold under the PS pump. Its a pain. Theres several right in the front of the engine, and one near the fuel filter.

What are your symptoms?

The car threw a P0133 code, so I'm looking for minor stuff before I drop the $ for an o2 sensor.

I would recommend checking your fuel pressure as per my suggestion in this thread:
