Headliner hell 850 1995

The already-shabby looking headliner material on my 850 is sinking as the fabric pulls away from the hard material above it.

It's really begun to sag above the rear seats, so I pulled the fabric from the very back after removing the two clips to access it. But Gorilla Glue and duct tape did nothing to reattach the fabric to the hard portion of the headliner. Plus I've now made a mess of the far back edge by pulling that portion down.

I've heard so much about headliner problems in the 700 series, yet this is just as bad. Went to the junkyard yesterday, there was a whole row of just-added 850s, headliner was awful in all of them.

What to do?

I have never seen an 850 or 855 with a headliner problem, unless the car was rolled.

You need to use "fabric" glue. 3M makes a very good one in a spray can.

Bailing wire and duct tape will not work.

Thanks, Klaus, the material started to separate after several weeks of humid summer weather. It all came about quickly.
