2000 S70 non turbo, Performance issues due to bad ABS module S70

My dash lights indicate that my ABS module needs rebuilt/replaced. Driving without the benefits of ABS is not a huge concern, based on where I live (Virginia Beach). However, the bad module will put the car into "limp home mode" more frequently now than it did back when the problem was first identified. Will driving in limp home mode for a short to long period of time cause any transmission problems, or any other unforeseen problems?

Thanks,
Mike

"limp home" mode is the tranny's answer when it doesn't know how fast your are going. The speedo signal goes through the ABS module before the tranny gets it.

The only problem with LH mode is the slipping torque converter. A little rough when starting from zero and up hill, but don't force it to go 0-60 like a car should go.
It also wears the rear brake pads faster because the rear is getting more pressure than needed when you stop. Watch out for wet roads.

It is not hard to remove the ABS controller and have it rebuilt.

      Klaus,

Thanks, you're a wealth of knowledge. I plan on removing the module this weekend and sending to Victor. Guessing that I will not get it back for 2 to 3 weeks.

      Thanks again,

      Mike

Unless Victor is on a long vacation, you should have it back before Friday. Send it out there by UPS 2 day or US mail priority. Check his web site for better delivery instructions. He also has pics for removal. You need a special external Torx driver to get the screws off, Sears has them.
