Drivetrain vibration..... XC90

I have a 2004 XC90, T5 AWD with 146K miles. I have developed a severe vibration in the transmission or drivetrain when coasting and decelerating down from about 35 to 25 miles an hour. The car shifts fine up through the gears and runs great on the highway and only shakes and vibrates decelerating and coasting down at the slow speeds.

Volvo dealer was no help and said the transmission was going and said to drive it until it blows up. I have looked at tires, shocks, axle shafts, drive shafts and all of the other moving parts and am at a total loss.

Anyone else having or had this same problem or similar?.......

I have a hard time the tranny is failing and causing this problem. Bevel gear fluid does need to be drained and filled.
Check your engine mounts, especially the front mount on the right fender side. And the transmission mount.

Hi ! It's more than likely the hanger bearing in the middle of the propeller shaft that connects to the Viscus coupling. If you live in GA. you probably don't have much snow and ice during the Winter. The best bet is to remove the rear drive shaft and leave it off, making the car FWD. You will get better gas mileage, better acceleration, and no strain on the transmition bevel gear. If you can't do it yourself, take it to your local garage and have them do it for you.
    Good luck, RKmacman 96 850 T, 98 V70XC FWD.
