trans issue?? V70-XC70 2000

Hello All,
I noticed driving our 2000 xc yesterday at around 10-25 mph i could hear a sound that i would say sounds like gears meshing. Similar to the sound you get in reverse with a manual shift. It is likely there at higher speeds i just can't hear it then. It is speed related. Slows when I slow. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Ken

When was the last time you flushed your bevel gear? Are your tires inflated properly?

Could you post that link on how to do that. I'm not sure where it was from. I can feel the vibration in the gas pedal. Does that sound like the bevel gear??

      Thanks,
      Ken

No, the vibration sounds more like the first CV joint in the driveshaft. You need to let the engine cool off and visually check it.

As to the bevel/angle gear, 2 schools of thought. The first:

        http://home.ripway.com/2005-4/294125/Volvo/V70XCBevelGear.pdf

The second is to drill a hole to allowing the gear oil to drain out. But I forgot where I found the tutorial!!! A very nice procedure, too.

        Try google,
