Ummm...What's an AIRPUMP? 850 1994

Hey all,

Went to buy an O2 sensor at ADAP and they had two types for the 850. One for an engine with an Airpump ($157.00) and one for an engine without $144.00)

Question is...What the heck is an airpump and how do I tell if I have one. And are these prices typical.

Marco

The link below has a post for replacing the air pump, check it out and then look at your car to see if you have it. The air pump on a 1994 will look a little bit different but its in the same place.

yes these prices are typical if not even a bit on the cheap side. The airpump is a pump that is activated when the car is cold to pump fresh air through the cat causing it to warm up faster. I'm not sure when these began being put on the cars though. If you want to check, it would be mounted underneath the battery tray.

It's part of the emissions control system.
