Driver's side window stuck down V70-XC70 1998

I rolled down my driver's side window today, and it won't go back up. It has been working fine, without glitches, since I installed a new master switch panel (in the driver's door). Other windows will work from that switch panel, just the driver's window will not. Any hints where to start?

Was that a brand new switch you installed, or a working used one? If used, with the key out, pull up about 30 times to work any loose junk out of the switch. Or pull the whole thing out of the door, again, unplug it and gently bang it into your left palm - hoping something bad will fall out.

If you kept the old one, I hope you did, plug it in and roll the window back up.

Let the "Pit" know what is happening tomorrow.

      Thanks, Klaus.

It was a brand new switch; I installed it exactly 3 years ago (7/15/06), and I did not keep the old one (as I recall, I had the same problem with the other one).

I took the switch out of the door and worked, banged, etc., the switch (nothing fell out that I noticed)and then plugged it back in. I DO notice a noise, like the motor trying to work, when I push the button DOWN (as if to lower the window). It's just that nothing happens when I pull up.

(I don't wish to seem too ignorant, but what is the "pit"? Are you referring to the forum?

      Thanks!

I had you mixed up with another poster, sorry, his Volvo indie is called The Pit.

The switch is then broken. No electricity is getting to the window motor in the up position. The single motor works on polarity, a charge in one direction makes the motor spin clockwise, in the other the motor spins counter clockwise.
So we know the motor is OK.

If you lived in the twin cities, you wouldn't have to worry. It is not expected to rain for a week. Any neighbors with a 1998-2000 V/S70?
