Replaced the Mass AirFlow Sensor but still get code 850 93

Now, I am at the end of my wits. I got the 1-2-1(mass air flow sensor) code from the #2 slot in A module.

I cleaned the connections in the sensor and the engine light came back on. Now I have replaced the sensor and the still get same code and the check engine light wont' go off.

Any ideas?

I am thinking that the wire coming into the sensor could be bad. Or could the sensor in the A module be bad?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Syd: was the car off, key NOT (hopefully) in the ignition when you unplugged your AMM?--PD.

Did you manually clear the code? It doesn't clear by itself just because you replaced a part. A wiring problem to a MAF sensor would be very unlikely IMO.

If you did clear the code and it's re-appearing, then might you have an air leak between the MAF sensor and intake manifold somewhere?

Yes, I had the car turned off and the negative cable from battery disconnected when I replaced the MAF Sensor. I tried several times to manually clear the code as I have done successfully in the past when it first started appearing.

I do have some type of ticking noise now when accelerating. I am thinking that there might be some type of exhaust of air leak. could this be associated with this?

Thanks,

Syd
