I am looking for to add the oem rails to my 2004 v70. i am guessing these rails are the same on the xc, too and that any car from 2001-2004 would fit this vehicle. I am not sure the best way to find this part at a pick n pull... i tried searching on a salvage yard tracking service and got several quotes for about $210 which seems a bit high.

I will driving from chicago to new hampshire later in the summer and am thinking I might be going near a junkyard that might have these parts. Does anyone know of any places i could check?

Try autosportsunlimited.com, I picked up a pair for a 2001 v70 (non xc so I asked for the matt black ones) for $70. I got extra lucky, they came off with the crossbars attached. They said, what they pull is what you get. Sure made my day. They are easy to attach, just pull off the covers, cut, re-install and attach rails.

Check the Chicago Craigslist for load bars for your car. Should be cheaper and easy to mount. Just make sure it is for your year and V70. Contact a Volvo parts dept, not service, and ask what years will fit your V70. Also ask for their price.
