Can't find S70 Rear Fenders? S70

Hi all,

New to Brickboard, in the process of buying a Volvo. The one I am looking at, a '98 S70 GLT, has a large dent with paint chipped on the rear left fender. It has been there for some time and the fender panel is beyond fixing. However, everywhere I search online only stocks FRONT fenders. Does anyone know why this is? Does no one ever mess up their rear fenders? Or something?

If anyone knows the reason for this--or, better yet, if they can point me to where I can find a rear left fender for a '98 S70--I'd be most appreciative!

Thanks!

    Welcome.

Front fenders use bolts to stay on and are easily replaced. You will note that the rear fender is welded to the C pillar and a few other spots. This is not an easy replacement and is best left to a body shop.

You could try calling salvage yards, such as Erie Volvo, and see if they have a usable fender. It would help things if they had the same color, the repaint would match better because the fender-C pillar will still have to be repainted to cover the welds.

Thanks Klaus. I've been lurking in the forums for two or three weeks now and it is no exaggeration to say that your FWD posts have consistently been some of the best sources of info on the entire internet.

As matters turned out, the person selling this car had priced it as a T-5. I noticed it was actually a GLT and was fine with that, assuming he would lower the price accordingly when I explained this. He didn't want to (I suppose hoping that someone would buy it without inspecting/running the VIN/knowing what was going on?), so I walked.

After looking at almost all of the 90s FWDs in my area and getting fed up with all the high miles and the half-dozen endemic problems I've been reading about, I'm now after a very different quarry--an '02 S60!

        Thanks for the kind words.

The S60 is fun, but may be a little cramped in the rear seat legroom. Leave no stone unturned, looking for a car is more fun than having it sit in your driveway. Besides, you learn a lot about people that way.
