Loose Dash V70-XC70 1998

The dash on my 98 V70 T5 is loose and squeaking and creaking. I can grab the part above the speedo cluster and moved it slightly by pushing it back and forth. Is there any way to tighten it up? Where are the attachment bolts, clips, etc. located? Thanks.

Hi Jon !

I had the same problem on my 98 T5. The fix was not to bad. I removed
the black moulding/cover where the wipers are and where u would pry loose
to replace the cabin filter. Removal of the wiper is required, and marking of
the position they come off. Once this is removed you will see 4 bolts, 3 are
easy to tighten.. the forth is behind the wiper mechinical assembly, and
the best way to tighten this one is witha wrench, sockets work fine on
the other three.

Good Luck,

Greg

The problem with those bolts is the plastic anchors, it is very easy to break them off. Just be careful, and have a helper push the dash forward while tightening.

john,

You'll need to reference the archives to find the instructions on how to remove the dash. Look under evaporator replacement.

To give you an idea of the skill level involved, I have replaced my timing belt, pads & rotors, suspension components plus do my own maintenance--oil, plugs, serpentine belt, etc.

This is not to discourage you, but just keep the task in prospective.

I am not trained as an auto tech but have learned OTJ using manuals, and especially, the excellent support of fellow BB members.
