My cruise control seems to "fade" when I set it, that is, if you set it for 70 mph, it will drop down to about 65 mph before engaging. This seems to happen more often when the engine or outside temperature is cold. Do you have any suggestions?

it's normal for the cruise to drop coupla kmh/mph the moment you set it, kinda like - you don't expect it to creep UP from 70miles to 72 mph, right.

anyway most people depress the cruise button just at the point of (slight) throttle lift-off. that would explain the cruise engaging at a lower speed.

if however you're cruising/holding at a steady 70mph and it then drops to 65, that's pretty unusual.

but do a testfirst - HOLD at a steady speed, or even CONTINUE accelerating and at a desired point, engage cruise. if it really drops 5mph, then you may want to check things further.

Many have experienced a problem with vacumn leaks in the system. The culprit has been a hose found under the battery. The hose is part of the cruise control and has been known to fail. I have never had the problem so I can't get more specific...archives should have something.
