Lights on A/C controls V70-XC70 1998

The last two times I started my car the small indicator lamps in the A/C On/Off buttons and the Outside/Recirculated Air buttons all came on and were blinking. Went back to normal after pushing the On/Off buttons a couple of times. Were they blinking for a reason (service needed, etc?) or do I have a problem of some type?

Thanks.

They blink 20 times to let you know the ECC detected a fault and it is going to manual mode. Most often it is a clogged temp sensor in the dash, just to the left of the ECC unit.
