Hey everyone, Just bought my daughter a 1997 850L for her graduation present and have a BIG problem ! I entered the wrong codes into the Cd player/stereo system and it shut off. Now when ya turn the power on the screen reads OFF. I pulled both fuses thinking it would reset it, but failed to do so. If anyone knows how to get this thing workin I'd appreciate the help. There is surely a way to reset and maybe even bypass the code entering even though it is an ati cd theft program. Also if anyone knows where I could get an owners manual for it I'd sure appreciate that info also so we will know what ALL the feautures do since it has everything but the kitchen sink. Thanks to all of you the info was a BIG help. The radio re-set except we are trying to get the code from an area Volvo dealer. I don't know how to get a hold of the lady who owned the car before us to get the code so I hope the dealer will know how to get the thing working. Thanks agian, much appreciated !!!

The dealer parts people have access to the codes. Look for a 4 digit number in the glove box, highest number is 6.
Pull the radio out of the dash a little, sometimes the techies write the number on top of the radio.

The radio needs to be turned on for 2 hours before it will change the message back to code. Then just enter the 4 numbers and wait for a couple of seconds. You get 3 tries to do it right.

For a manual, you could call Volvo at 1-800-458-1552
If you ask nicely they might just have a used manual for free, that happened to me once. Normally, they will send you one for $25. Let them know the VIN and mileage, if it is over 100K they will also send you a 100K sticker.

you can register your car, VIN needed, and then look in owners info and get the users manual online. Just a little harder to read, but it is all there.

turn the ignition key to the first position ,not far enough to put the indicator dash lights on ,just enough to put the radio on then leave it for a couple of hours then it will switch back to CODE ,then enter the code
