Speaker freaking

I have intermittent craking and popping in the speakers as sound goes from all to just passenger-side. Mostly it is just coming out from the passenger side speakers. Is this internal to the radio head or something in the speakers or wiring??

    Re: Speaker freaking 850 94

If you have the 811 radio, not sure about the others..there is a small switch located inside the radio itself. It has 4 small wires that plug in with a white plug to a little board that controls the volume. This thing gets real loos. What I did was to actually bend the pins a little to make a tighter fit and have had no problems since. This was after I checked out the wiring to the speaker and it all checked fine. You will have to actually remove the radio and pull the sides off it to do this. May or may not be worth yourt time. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies...sometimes turning the volume knob changes this so it may be that which Keith suggests. I am sort of clumsy so I am naturally unconfident about fiddly repair work. I will have to check it out though.

    Re: Speaker freaking

Sounds like bad wiring somewhere between the head unit and the speaker itself. I would suggest you begin by checking the wiring at the back of the head unit, and at the back of the speaker.
