start problems 850

Hello everyone,my 96 850 glt has developed a start problem, when i try to start it ,it cranks over then wants to start but dies as if i ran out of fuel, ikeep trying and finally it starts then runs and when I shut it off it has the same problem.when it finally starts after repeated attempts tere is a bit of smoke out of the tailpipe and it smells like raw fuel,I dont think its the fuel pump as I replaced it a couple of years ago. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Check the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulater, there should be no gasoline in it. If there is, a new FPR is needed. The car should start normally when warm.

Time to check the engine coolant temp sensor also.
