Just pulled five (5) ABS codes from socket A3 after my ABS idiot light went on recently. Can anyone enlighten me as to what they really mean to me as far as repairs or cleaning up something first?

142= Stop lamp switch faulty
211= No left/front wheel signal on moving off
212= No right/front wheel signal on moving off
213= No left/rear wheel signal on moving off
214= No right/rear wheel signal on moving off

A couple of tips here, the car recently needed new front rotors and pads and they were all replaced by my local Indy. The car has 188,000 miles on it and this is the first time I have ever had the ABS light come on. (1995 854 GLT)

Check your brake lights first, easy to do.

Did you clear the codes and still get 211-214? When I changed my rotors, I cleaned the area where the slots are that are read by the sensors. Very hard to see with the rotors on.
Perhaps the person changing the rotors moved the sensors? It doesn't make sense to see all 4 DTCs, especially since you drove the car above 20mph.

Common sense trumps a PhD

The brake lights are fine especially since my Indy replaced a bulb or two during the annual state safety inspection. I cleared the codes but did not go back in and see if the codes were still there. This morning when I started the engine, without moving, the ABS light came back on but only briefly before it went out. Strange....

Check to see if the codes came back before going further. With any luck they won't come back. The ABS light sounds normal to me. I notice that mine will sometimes stay on a couple moments longer than usual before turning off (also a '95 854 GLT). You hearing the system test itself the first time the car reaches 18mph?
