95 854T error code 1-1-3 850

My 850 T5-R quit on me this past weekend. Car turns over but will not start. Only error code I could find was a 1-1-3 in socket 7 of module A. According to my Haynes manual that means, "Fuel gauge sender unit open circuit". What does this mean? Is this an easy fix?

The 1-1-3 means that your gas gauge is not correct. There is a bad wire in the sender, which is in the fuel tank. Easy to pull out and check it. It is on the passenger side, under the carpet, just behind the rear seat back. Fold the seat forward, remove the carpet and remove the inspection plate.

You have a fuel delivery problem, I wonder if you ran out of gas?

I was not so lucky. Plenty of fuel in the tank. I changed the fuel filter and added a couple of gallons of gas. What next? Does the sending unit need replaced? Is that what the error means?

The 1-1-3 will not keep your car from running, it just means the fuel gauge is not working because of a loose wire, grounded wire, or broken sender. If you unplug the sender, use a ohm meter to test the resistance at the sender - there should be some depending on the level of fuel in the tank. You did try to clear the code??

Not having any codes on an engine that won't start usually indicates a fuel problem. Listen for the fuel pump priming when you turn the key to posII. It may be just a bad fuel pump relay, I hope.
