ABS Light on S70 1998

Adding to the collection of lights cheerfully decorating the dashboard, the ABS warning light came on last night. What do I do?

    ABS Light on S70 1998

    Merry Christmas!!

I guess it is time to send the ABS module to Victor? You could stop by an autoparts store and get the codes read and cleared, but the light will come on again. When the ABS module gets worse, your speedometer might fail.

You will need an E5 torx driver to get the ABS module off the car. E for external torx, 5 for mm. Some on the brickboard have had luck using a very small SAE sized socket.

Victors web site has all of the info:

      Thanks, Klaus!

I haven't even had time to look for the vacuum leak/lambda light problem yet! The car has 170K miles and everything is going at the same time it seems. OUr TRACS off light has been on for 6 months now, I didn't worry about it because we don't drive in snow - I never realized it was related to the ABS system.

Thanks for the link to Victor's site, I assume the car cannot be driven with the ABS removed - maybe that is a stupid question but it is our only car so I need it to get to work.

We've been thinking of getting a second car since my husband is starting a new job in Sept further away - he currently rides his bike and I use the car. Maybe we should get another car, then ship out the ABS module once we have the other to drive... cars, they just eat up money!
