wipers not working S40-V40

The windshield wipers have stopped wiping on my '00 S40. I can hear the motor trying to run but the wipers do not move so I think the wiper motor is still OK? Any ideas what could be wrong or anything I can try diagnosing on my own before I take it to a mechanic?

Thanks,
David

After a month or so of not moving, the blades can get stuck to the windshield. Try picking them up, leave them in the up position and turn them on. If there is still no movement, you will have to take off the cowl cover under the windshield and find out what is wrong with the linkage.

Are there any instructions online for removing the cowl cover? Thanks.

I don't remember the year, but if your car has HID headlights installed, read this thread:

Removing the cowl shouldn't be a problem. 13mm wrench to remove the wiper arm and a T25 to remove the torx screws. Watch out for the drain tubes.

I don't have HID headlights (I don't think it was an option for MY2000). Where do I use the 13mm wrench to remove the wiper arm and a T25 to remove the torx screws? I don't see the torx screws or where to use the wrench.

Thanks,
David
