2004 XC90 vs. 2001 S60 T5 manual XC90 2004

I own a 2001 S60 T5 manual. Had a few recent problems where I had to change the CEM and starter. Very pricy. Never had issues with the ETV module. Looking at a 1 owner 2004 XC90. After reading through some of the threads, I'm curious if anyone else has compared these two cars. I live in southern Minnesota, so snow is an issue. My S60 does pretty well in the winter, but not great. The threads on problems getting into driveways worries me about the ability for the XC90 to drive in MN winter weather. I also can't put a hitch on it (also don't want to with the clutch). XC90 has more room, hitch capabilities and more convenient having 2 boys and 2 little dogs.

I'm on the fence. Any experiences or stories you wish to share? Anyone compared these two makes and models?

Thanks.

    2004 XC90 vs. 2001 S60 T5 manual XC90 2004

Thats like trying to compare tenderloin and Spam. Two totally different cars. The T5 is made for fun, the XC is made to haul stuff.
If you are looking at an XC90, might I suggest staying away from the T6 engine? The twin turbos make things too hot for all of the electronics in the engine bay. The T5 is a little less powerful but lasts longer with better mpg and has the same towing capabilities.

Klaus, thanks for the response. You've answered several of my dad's posts in the past regarding my car. User Marlin Mangels. I've had to get my S60 T5 towed to Borton's 4 times in the last year. I don't believe the XC90 is a T6 engine.
