SRS Light On V70-XC70 2000

My SRS light has been on for a week now. I haven't done any work on the car for sometime so I imagine there is a real fault in the SRS system and it's not something I triggered.

My question is what are the likely faults in my 10 year old V70? Is it typically just a bad connection somewhere or are the airbags really in need of replacement ($$$) at this age. Since my OBDII reader won't connect to the SRS system I have no way of troubleshooting unfortunately.

My wife is also concerned the airbag will go off accidently while she's driving so it looks like a trip to dealer may be all I can do.

I just lived thru six months of the SRS light being on. I had other much larger issues but all issues were solved by a through cleaning of connectors. In my situation it took my local dealer to trace the fault. I have a V-70 AWD car so the offending connector was under the car.

The local shop found out this morning that the SRS code is SRS-412 meaning the left side airbag (I think this is in the seat) has a problem. The shop reset the code and it hasn't come back yet.

I wonder if it's just a bad connection somewhere. Does anyone know where the wiring for this airbag runs? If I follow it through I may find a short or bad connector somewhere.
